Bandung Police have urged residents to refrain from leaving their home as Bandung City is set to host two big events on Sunday.

"Since the city will host big events on Sunday, we call on the people not to leave their home unless they have a very urgent matter," said Bandung Police's spokesperson Comr. Santiadjie Kartasasmita on Thursday as quoted by tempo.co.

The scheduled events on Sunday include an around-the-city parade of President's Cup champions Persib players and the celebration of the anniversary of West Java.

"We predict congestion will occurred in Bandung City and the surrounding areas, since those living outside Bandung are expected to join the parade as well," said Santiadjie.

The parade will consists of six tour buses and four escort vehicles and is set to pass through these areas: Kota Baru Parahyangan, Padalarang, Cimareme, Gadobangking, Permata Cimahi, Padasuka, Cimahi City Square, Cihanjuang, Flyover Cimindi, Cibeureum City border, Ciroyom Market, Suniaraja, Pasar Baru, Viaduct, Braga, Tamblong, Asia Afrika, Bandung Square, Otista and Tegalega Field.

According to Bandung Mayor Ridwan Kamil, the date of the parade would not be revised despite being held at the same time as the West Java anniversary celebration.

"[The date] will stay the same [Oct. 25]. But we will discuss it again [in a meeting]," said Ridwan on Thursday.

According to Cimahi Police's spokesperson Kompol Lukman Hakim Syarif, up to 500 personnel would be deployed to secure the parade in Cimahi and West Bandung. (kes)(++++)
