Comic artist Tita Larasati is never without a sketchbook within reach, enabling her to sketch her daily encounters and thoughts.
While pursuing her doctorate in the Netherlands, she regularly posted her graphic diary on social media as a way to keep in touch with her family and friends in Indonesia.
The diary captured the attention of netizens, prompting her to publish a paperback version entitled Curhat Tita (Tita Tells Her Stories) in 2008, a year after returning to Indonesia.
Despite selling her graphic diary under her publishing company, Tita is a generous artist.
She continues to release new pieces of her graphic diary on social media for free.
'Publishing the paperback version is my way to accommodate those who like graphic diaries published online and want to keep a copy of it,' said Tita, who is a lecturer at the industrial design department of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).
When it comes to reading, Tita has a deep interest in Arthurian literature and classic stories of Javanese heroines. Her admiration toward the Roro Mendut trilogy inspired her to name her daughter Lindri, based on a strong Javanese character in the trilogy.
Tita is one of the founders of the Bandung Creative City Forum (BCCF), an initiative that aims to develop creative communities and citizens of West Java's capital. She currently serves as BCCF secretary-general.
'I continue to write my graphic novel during my spare time. I will publish a comic in the upcoming months,' she said.

Roro Mendut trilogy
by YB Mangunwijaya
The trilogy ' Roro Mendut, Genduk Duku and Lusi Lindri '
tells the story of a Javanese woman who becomes strong in her own way. I
am a woman of Javanese descent and read the trilogy as a teenager. I
want to be strong like them.
In addition to that, it is also
interesting to observe the history in the story. Reading this trilogy is
like diving into Javanese characters and elements that shape them. I
love the trilogy so much that my husband and I named our daughter
Lindri.
The Once and Future King
by T.H. White
I love the story of King Arthur for various versions, but this one is my favorite because it portrays his early years in the most exciting way.
Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter, Witch
by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett
As a fan of Neil Gaiman's works, it is hard to pick a favorite. But his piece about a chaotic judgment day is one of the funniest. The smart but 'dry' English humor is palpable in the novel. This reminds me of The Hitchhikers' Guide to The Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
