s part of efforts to reduce cash transactions, state lender Bank Mandiri is cooperating with minimart chain Indomaret in the use of '€œMandiri e-cash'€ payments.

'€œWith this payment system, people can go to the store and make transactions on their mobiles,'€ Mandiri senior vice president for electronic banking Rahmat Broto Triaji said on Wednesday.

Indomaret market director Wiwiek Yusuf said, '€œCash means we have to be ready with small change all the time and the balance in the company'€™s account isn'€™t automatically updated. [...] We believe this new payment system will help us in this case.'€

Wiwiek said the payment system would be available in all 11,700 Indomaret stores nationwide.
