angdut singer Saiful Jamil, better known as Ipul, was taken into police custody on Thursday following a report of a sexual assault on a fan.

It was reported that as Ipul and the victim, a young man who will turn 18 next month, had known each other well, Ipul asked the victim to stay overnight at his house in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, on Wednesday after recording a TV program.

Early on Thursday morning, Ipul reportedly sexually assaulted the victim after the youth rejected his advances. The victim, accompanied by his parents, then reported Ipul to the Kelapa Gading Police.

North Jakarta Police'€™s Sr. Comr. Daniel Bolly H. Tifaona confirmed the report. He said that Ipul was currently being questioned by the police and had allegedly admitted the assault.

Daniel added that Ipul would be charged under Article 82 of the Child Protection Law, which stipulates a maximum of 15 years in prison.
