he body of Ishak, alias Anton alias Tiger, 24, a member of the East Indonesia Mujahidin (MIT) terrorist group led by Indonesia’s most wanted man Santoso, alias Abu Wardah, was buried at the Talise public cemetery in Palu, Central Sulawesi, on Friday.
Ishak was shot dead in a recent shootout between several MIT members and a joint Indonesian Military and National Police team during a security operation codenamed Operation Tinombala 2016 in pursuit of terrorist Santoso and his followers in Poso.
Ishak’s body was brought to the Talise public cemetery at around 11:30 a.m. local time on Friday using an ambulance belonging to the Central Sulawesi Police’s medicine and health department, with a tight security escort by Mobile Brigade personnel.
Ishak’s father, Sukardin, witnessed the burial. He refused to comment on the death of his son. Ishak is the second of five siblings born to Sukardin and his wife Januria, from O’o village in Bima regency, West Nusa Tenggara.
Ishak was killed during a shootout in Rompo, Central Lore district, Poso regency, on March 23. Brig.Gen. Rudy Sufahriadi of the Central Sulawesi Police earlier said two suspected terrorists were killed in the shootout. “They are Ishak, alias Anton alias Tiger, and Joko alias Turang Ismail,” he said.
Rudy said Joko was a Santoso-led MIT terrorist group member from Uighur, China. “There are still two Uighur people in the Santoso group,” he said. (ebf)
