ourteen teenage boys, who raped and killed a junior high school girl in a remote area of Rejang Lebong, Bengkulu province, are possibly facing 30-year prison sentences, a police officer says.
The perpetrators had been charged on three counts, violence against children, murder and being intoxicated in a public area, Rejang Lebong Police chief adj. snr. commissioner Dirmanto, said on Monday as quoted by Antara.
“Seven of them are still underage, so we’ll handle them accordingly,” Dirmanto said.
He said the girl was on her way home, in her school uniform, in early April before she was taken by one of the perpetrators who she knew personally, and dragged into the forest where she was raped and then murdered.
The bruised body of the 14-year old girl was found in a remote area of Bengkulu, Rejang Lebong district, tied up and naked, three days after her death. (dan)
