A

senior official at the State-Owned Enterprises Ministry has confirmed that five of the president director candidates of state-owned energy firm Pertamina will come from within the firm.

“All of them are from inside. There are five people,” Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, the ministry’s deputy of energy, logistics, estates and tourism business, said on Thursday.

Although Edwin remained tight-lipped about which Pertamina directors were candidates, he said “it included all of them.”

Pertamina president director Dwi Soetjipto and deputy president director Ahmad Bambang were removed from their positions earlier this month due to a leadership rift.

The board of commissioners felt that the discord between the two had resulted in poor company performance.

Dwi was appointed president director in late 2014, while Ahmad Bambang was appointed deputy, a position that had not previously existed, late last year.

The board of commissioners has until next month to appoint a new president director. In the meantime, Pertamina’s director of gas and renewable energy, Yenni Andayani, is running the company. (bbn)
