laundry service provider and a restaurant in Depok, West Java, are providing food and services free of charge to customers during the fasting month of Ramadhan in exchange for prayers.
Poetri Laundry in Kelapa Dua, Depok, is offering to do up to 3 kilograms of laundry for customers who recite prayers of salvation, among others, on the spot as "payment."
“Only by reciting prayers can you receive services free of charge,” Poetri Laundry owner Asep Irawan Hidayat said as quoted by kompas.com. The free service is available from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
“We hope more people can pray for this country. It is efficacious to pray in the evening,” Asep said.
In addition to the free service, Poetri Laundry customers are also provided with free takjil (sugary snacks and drinks consumed to break the fast).
Meanwhile, Soto Kauman Express in Sawangan, Depok, requires its customers to write prayers on a piece of paper in exchange for free food to break the fast. Among food provided is soto (traditional Indonesian soup), siomay (steamed dumplings), dates and es kelapa (iced coconut drink).
The free food is offered between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. every day during Ramadhan. (vny/ebf)
