ndonesia’s Under-19 soccer team stumbled in its third Group B match as Vietnam crushed the young Garudas 3-0 at the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) U18 Youth Championship in Yangon, on Monday.

In Monday’s bout, held at Thuwunna Stadium, three goals were produced by striker Le Van Nam in the 41st and 42nd minutes, as well by defender Hoang Viet Anh in the 86th minute.

With the recent loss, Indonesia remains in second place in Group B, collecting six points from two wins and one loss. Meanwhile, Vietnam has secured top position with nine points after winning all three games in the group stage.

However, Indonesia could still lose its second-place position to Myanmar should the latter win by a two-goal margin against the Philippines in another group match to be held later last night.

The Red-and-White dominated the early stages of the match. However, top-scorer Egy Maulana and his teammates failed to penetrate Vietnam’s defense.

Troubles came when Muhammad Riyandi was replaced by Muhammad Aqil Savik in the 36th minutes because of injury. Just five minutes after the substitution, Vietnam found the back of the net for its first goal through Nam, before romping home to victory. Indonesia will face Brunei in its last group match on Wednesday.
