olkar Party lawmaker Aditya Anugrah Moha has claimed that he bribed the head of the Manado High Court to influence the court’s decision on his mother’s case.

"I have been fighting, I have done my best for the sake of my mother’s good name," Aditya said at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) headquarters as quoted by kompas.com on Monday.

Aditya was caught red-handed while trying to bribe judge Sudiwardono, the head of the Manado High Court, who was considering an appeal filed by his mother, Marlina Moha Siahaan, who had been sentenced to five years in jail for his role in a graft case centering on the misappropriation of the Boolang Mongondow Regency's village apparatus allowances (TPAPD).

Marlina was Boolang Mongondow regent from 2006 to 2016. Aditya said he wanted the court to acquit his mother.

The antigraft body confiscated S$64,000 (US$46,848) from the suspect. According to the KPK, Aditya had bribed Sudiwardono more than one time. In August, he also gave the judge as much as S$60,000 in Manado.

Aditya refused to reveal from where he got the money he used to bribe Sudiwardono. "My lawyer [will tell you]," he said.

According to the official wealth reports (LHKPN) Aditya submitted to the KPK in 2014, the lawmaker at the time had assets worth Rp 3.2 billion in the form of buildings and land in eight locations, as well as a number of vehicles.  (foy)
