BKPM chairman Thomas Trikasih "Tom" Lembong said on Thursday that the preparational work included organizational restructuring, preparing cloud-computing infrastructure and drafting technical rules.

The full takeover of the OSS system by the board is scheduled for November. "The new organizational structure is almost ready, and we will establish new divisions to operate the OSS," he said at his office in Jakarta.

Thomas said the board had proposed an additional budget of Rp 200 billion (US$13.87 million) to the Finance Ministry to fund the new function, which would increase the total BKMP budget this year to Rp 700 billion.

"The additional budget funds are mostly allocated to could computing [resources]. We need giant cloud computing [resources] for this. The other part is for dissemination of the program to regional governments and ministries," he said.

The BKPM’s newly appointed head of investment cooperation, Wisnu Wijaya Soedibjo, said the board would issue two new OSS-related regulations regarding licensing services and operational control. "We hope to issue those two regulations this week," he said, adding that the BKPM currently offered 29 licensing services. (bbn)
