akarta-owned market operator PD Pasar Jaya is planning to meet with MRT Jakarta and the developer of a transit-oriented development (TOD) residence to talk about the construction of Blok A market in Fatmawati, South Jakarta.
The market was torn down three years ago by Pasar Jaya to make way for the construction of a new building. However, construction was stalled because the development of an MRT station required around 1,000 meters of the market’s land.
As the Jakarta administration had made plans to construct a TOD residence near the market, Pasar Jaya spokesperson Amanda Gita said her company would need to talk with MRT Jakarta and the developer so they could begin the market’s construction immediately.
“To expedite the construction, we’ll hold a meeting on Tuesday with MRT Jakarta and the developer to find out more about the TOD residence construction plan,” she said on Monday as quoted by kompas.com.
Pasar Jaya held a groundbreaking ceremony in June 2017. However, the construction was stalled because of design changes.
As a result, the market operator needed to apply for a change of permit.
“We’re still waiting for a new permit to be issued because we’ve changed the number of levels of the market,” she said. (ris)
