Indonesia’s largest digital ecosystem GoTo provided its support for the prestigious Mandalika GP Series 2022 international motorcycle racing event, part of the MotoGP racing calendar for the 2022 season.

In collaboration with the Mandalika Grand Prix Association (MGPA), part of the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) Group, GoTo made various products and services in its ecosystem available for the event.

The presence of GoTo – which comprises GoTo, Gojek, Tokopedia and GoTo Financial – is a form of support for the government’s efforts in restoring the national economy through the revival of the local tourism, with a multiplier effect for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) around the West Nusa Tenggara area.

Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno noted that the Mandalika GP Series 2022 event was a national priority program and an opportunity for the revival of tourism and the creative economy, which can in turn encourage economic recovery and create jobs in Indonesia.

“This event not only shows the beauty of Indonesia's tourism and branding in the eyes of the world, but also carries an economic mission,” he said.

Shinto Nugroho, GoTo's chief of Public Policy and Government Relations said the digital ecosystem was proud to be trusted by Indonesia as the host of the 2022 Mandalika GP Series, adding that the event also proved the world's trust in Indonesia’s technological innovation and hospitality.

“This event is an opportunity for Indonesia to encourage national economic recovery through the revival of the tourist sector. For this reason, GoTo's participation in this event is part of our holistic ecosystem’s contribution to the recovery of the national economy by revitalizing the tourist and MSME sectors,” she said.

“We are always ready to partner with various parties, especially the government, to promote strategic initiatives that can support economic recovery. The manifestation of our commitment is our partnership with MGPA as well as collaboration with the Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Ministry and the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry.”

GoTo’s support is in line with its efforts as one of the main contributors to the digital economy in Indonesia in encouraging growth for MSMEs through its comprehensive ecosystem.

During the Mandalika GP Series 2022, GoTo ran a series of initiatives, including bringing the best local MSMEs closer to visitors through its collaboration with the Cooperatives and SMEs Ministry. The collaboration helped local MSMEs to reach more customers by becoming GoFood and GoPay merchant partners, along with presenting Tokopedia and Gojek MSME products in the culinary sector.

At the same time, GoTo also provided extra convenience for non-cash payments via GoPay’s QRIS on food trucks. Through a strategic partnership with the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry, food trucks were present at Kuta Mandalika Beach along with attractive GoPay promo of 40 percent cashback, enabling visitors to experience the best Indonesian culinary delights in the Mandalika area with a great deal.

Sandiaga expressed his appreciation to the GoTo Group for its support in organizing the Mandalika GP Series 2022, specifically in preparing the readiness of food truck culinary actors through the contactless digital payment ecosystem and attractive GoPay promos.

“The Food Truck Goes To Mandalika is the manifestation of a program that is right on target, right on benefit and right on time in this new economic era. It provides convenience for visitors wanting to try culinary delights in Mandalika as well as being strategic for promoting Indonesian cuisine as one of the sub-sectors in the creative economy that has the potential to support the revival of the country's economy.

“By collaborating on and optimizing digitalization, we hope that the positive multiplier effect of this activity can continue to expand for the creative tourist sector so that it can #RiseTogetherWithKemenparekraf (#RiseTogetherWithTheTourismAndCreativeEconomyMinistry) through the promotion of #WonderfulIndonesia to domestic and international tourists."

Aside from culinary MSMEs, GoTo also provided marketing access for MSMEs in the creative economy sector through the participation of the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry's MotoGP planogram, which involved more than 40 Tokopedia MSMEs in the fashion, culinary and craft sectors along with 20 GoFood merchants displaying high-quality products. Promotions encouraged purchases from the MSME merchants present during the MotoGP event.

GoTo also created a pleasant consumer experience through a variety of products and services, including a Gojek Booth in the circuit area with various games with Gojek x Mandalika GP series merchandise as prizes and a rest area for visitors. In addition, visitors were also able to top-up their GoPay balance at the GoPay Booth.

The GoCar service, as the official ride-hailing partner, was ready to meet the traveling needs of visitors to and from the circuit area, while a dedicated Customer Lounge made it easy for visitors to meet with GoCar driver partners. To facilitate the mobility of visitors in the circuit area, the Gojek Shuttle was also prepared.

Meanwhile, the GoFood Pickup feature helped visitors pick up their favorite culinary orders to-go directly from the GoFood merchants more quickly and comfortably in the circuit area. Through the feature, customers could order food before arriving at the restaurant location, all the while monitoring the estimated time until the order would be ready to pick up through the application conveniently.

For official MotoGP souvenirs available anytime and anywhere, Sarinah and Tokopedia collaborated for the Sarinah Official Merchandise Mandalika GP Series, which could be purchased exclusively on Tokopedia. For on-site purchases, GoTo provided promos at special MGPA merchants using GoPay and GoFood Pickup, as well as promos for purchasing official merchandise at booths during events with GoPay.

Access to the Mandalika GP Series 2022 was also more convenient, as tickets could be purchased via the Tokopedia or GoTix application as well as LOKET as the official ticket sales partner.

To appreciate everyone in its ecosystem, GoTo provided exclusive experiences, from getting tickets and accommodation, to watching free MotoGP for Anak Sultan - the highest title for customers part of Gojek’s loyalty program GoClub - who won the #AlaAnakSultan MotoGP Watch competition, which ran from Feb. 24 to March 4.

A similar exclusive experience could also be enjoyed by Gojek driver partners who won the #MitraGojekNontonMotoGP social media competition, winning the opportunity to watch the Mandalika GP Series for free.

MGPA deputy president director Cahyadi Wanda said the collaboration and participation of parties including GoTo was important to support the Mandalika GP Series 2022, including the MotoGP.

“We hope that this event can lead to a broad positive impact, not only for the people around Mandalika, but also throughout Indonesia. We believe that the technology presented by GoTo made it easier for visitors to enjoy the event and, at the same time, had an impact on the surrounding community by helping promote local food and products.”
