Regional customs and excise offices work to help businesses export their products

nsuring the continuity of exports by domestic business players is of paramount importance and that’s why the Customs and Excise Directorate General provides assistance and education on the issue on a regular basis.

The step aims to help businesses maintain product quality, one of the prerequisites to keep the products attractive to the international market.

The Parepare and Bandung Customs and Excise Office in South Sulawesi and West Java, respectively, have provided respective export assistance and services to PT Jambi Semesta Biomassa and Zayn Tobacco.

The Parepare Customs and Excise Office supported PT Jambi Semesta Biomassa in regard to exports of palm kernels to Japan.

“We manage to export 10,000 metric tons of products. This is a positive achievement regarding the continuity of the export of palm kernels that Japan is highly interested in,” said Hatta Wardhana, the subdirector of public relations and customs information at the Jakarta Customs and Excise Office.

Meanwhile, in West Java, the customs and excise office served Zayn Tobacco with respect to the export of sliced tobacco, which was checked and sealed prior to being exported to the Maldives. The exported products amounted to 32 boxes of tobacco with a total of 1,000 packages, each containing 70 grams of sliced tobacco divided into Heritage Gold Tobacco and Heritage Red Tobacco.

Box-sealing tape as a security mark was used to seal every box and the door of every boxcar was sealed with tin.

“The export was the initial shipment of samples. Hopefully, the recipient is satisfied and will place repeated orders, with a greater volume of goods,” said Ryan Wahyudi, owner of Zayn Tobacco.

The sealing activities were conducted in line with the Finance Ministerial Regulation No. 226/2014 on stockpiling, incoming, outgoing and transporting taxable goods.

Referring to Article 9, taxable goods for exports are exempted from customs tax and the goods deserve protection through customs documents, including sealing.

Hatta added: “The export of pall shells is expected to support the success of the government’s national economic recovery program and at the same time, strengthen our regional economies.”
