o further encourage the consistency of exports, the Customs and Excise Office is collaborating with a number of parties. Customs and Excise is also acting as a logistics initiator by bringing together logistics service providers, exporters and several relevant government agencies. The synergy has resulted in successful exports from Balikpapan and Kudus to foreign countries abroad.
On Sunday, Customs and Excise, along with the Fish Quarantine Center, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products (BKIPM) of Balikpapan, the local government, PT Angkasa Pura I and PT Angkasa Pura Logistics, officially released a direct call for the export of mangrove crab marine products.
The release was witnessed by representatives from the governor of East Kalimantan and the mayor of Balikpapan. The new export route was used as an alternative during lockdown, and has now become the route for the export of live crabs to China, so that entrepreneurs have more options that can be adjusted to their individual preferences.
"The export process to Shanghai, China was previously less effective, which was around 20-24 hours of travel because of the transit process in Jakarta. Currently exports are shorter, only taking about six hours of travel time on the Balikpapan-Shenzhen direct route. With this, exporters are less worried about the quality of crabs," said Hatta Wardhana, head of the Sub-Directorate of Public Relations and Customs Extension.
The head of CV Tiga A, Sumaryono, as an exporter in the marine sector, said that with the support of the government, the number of exports, especially live crabs from Balikpapan, can now continue to run smoothly and consistently.
"Based on the data obtained, the total foreign exchange for exports of live crab products in 2021 has increased compared with 2020, which amounted to Rp 13.27 billion, to Rp 163 billion rupiah. The net volume also increased 601 percent, to 1,362 tons from 195 tons previously," explained Hatta.
Meanwhile, the Customs and Excise department in Kudus has succeeded in releasing the first export of tobacco products belonging to PT Galih Jati Sakti to the Philippines and Malaysia. The export adds a beneficial contribution to foreign exchange, which is in line with the government’s program in the National Economic Recovery (PEN).
“As an institution that is mandated with duties and functions in the field of customs and excise, Customs and Excise is ready to be a partner for business actors, and accepts any input. In addition, we will be committed and continue to help resolve any obstacles faced by users of customs and excise services to improve the quality of their products for exports," concluded Hatta.
