n its role as a trade facilitator and industrial assistant, Customs and Excise continues to increase its support for the national economy through exports.
On Wednesday, Customs and Excise formally released the first export products from East Java and Kalimantan to Asian and American markets.
Oentarto Wibowo, Head of the East Java II Customs and Excise Office, officiated the first export of shoes produced by PT Sukses Abadi Indonesia (SAI) to the United States. The event was also attended by acting Nganjuk regent Marhaen Djumadi and Kediri Customs Head Sunaryo.
PT SAI is a manufacturing company that received bonded zone facilities in November 2021 to produce sports shoes for export purposes. The company is located on Jl. Gondang-Lengkong in Gondang district, Nganjuk, East Java.
Oentarto expressed his appreciation for PT SAI’s performance, noting that the East Java Customs and Excise Office was committed to providing support for similar industries, especially in East Java, both in the form of fiscal waivers and exceptional and accountable services.
"With this bonded area facility, we hope that the company can […] encourage growth and development so that it can, in turn, provide a positive economic impact for the community around the factory and the local government," he said.
Since opening in a bonded zone, SAI has been recruiting workers, conducting training and accepting subcontract work with the aim of producing goods that meet buyer standards and qualifications.
“Along with its development, PT SAI has shown a positive trend in performance. PT SAI was able to carry out the initial export of 24,912 pairs of shoes, which has a foreign exchange value of US$354,219, or approximately Rp 5.16 billion. In addition, PT SAI currently employs 3,000 workers and is targeted to increase to 7,000 workers by the end of 2022," Oentarto said.
Meanwhile, in Balikpapan, the Customs and Excise Office released the initial export of 7,000 tons of palm kernel expeller (PKE) products belonging to PT Kutai Refinery Nusantara (PT KRN) to South Korea on Thursday. The event was also attended by representatives from Balikpapan Customs and the Balikpapan Quarantine Center.
KRN Head of Social Capital Senior Manager M. Jaya Budiarsa said that PKE was one of nine palm oil derivative products produced by the company. PKE itself processes palm kernel waste into animal feed.
"This export is a form of our contribution to increasing state income from export duties and export foreign exchange," he added.
On Wednesday, Banjarmasin Customs and Excise released an initial export of 56 kg of swallow’s nests from PT Agrika Gatya Arum to Hong Kong at Syamsudin Noor International Airport in Banjarmasin.
