LG CEO presents visions of innovation for a better life

G Electronics (LG) revealed its grand vision for innovation for a better life and a sustainable future. It was presented during its the LG World Premiere press conference at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 in Las Vegas.

The company’s rapid expansion is supported by internal programs that encourage its employees to be innovative and inspired to create a better user experience. In this year’s CES, LG introduced LG Labs, a new company project that seeks to combine product design, services and marketing activities based on experimentation of creative ideas and concepts from inside and outside the company.

Among the LG Lab’s innovations is the Hover Gym, which allows users to exercise without having to lift weights using separate dumbbells; excicle, a more engaging solution than a static bicycle; and brid.zzz that helps users to sleep better using its brainwave-reading feature to create certain beats that enable users to relax better.

“The beginning and end of every innovation is the consumer. With innovations, we can create smiles on their faces,” says CEO of LG William Cho.

LG emphasized its commitment to bringing added value with sustainable innovations. They include the TV OLED LG that has been in production for 10 years since its launch. The product’s multiple world-class achievements have only motivated LG to create more technological breakthroughs for its customers.

Recently, LG has added a new category to its catalogue of household products. LG ThinQ UP for example, is unique in the availability of its upgrade options and function personalization. Even further, LG has added a personal touch to its MoodUP™️ refrigerators with the ability to change colors to match the kitchen décor.

The company has even developed a wide variety of features to provide its users with better interactivity through partnerships with other parties. For example, LG has the MasterClass educational platform, the MaxPro wellness and sports application and Sansar that provides a metaverse service.

CEO Cho further revealed the key to LG’s success in becoming one of the component industry’s valuable innovation partners. In partnership with top automobile manufacturers.  LG is able to utilize its findings from previous in-depth research in the consumer electronics industry.

LG’s portfolio is also expanding to electric vehicle charging and digital health services on the webOS platform. It also plans to increase investment in future core technologies including artificial intelligence (AI) and 6G and pursue collaborations with various start-ups through the LG North American Innovation Center (LG NOVA).

The conference also saw introductions of other LG key partners such as president and CEO of Paramount Streaming Tom Ryan. It uncovered the two company’s collaboration to offer a new content-viewing experience with Pluto TV, a free streaming television integrated with LG Channel.

“With Pluto TV, we will be adding 100 new channels to users all over the world,” said Tom.

Through the press conference, LG also announced that it will continue to host the Global IT Challenge (GITC) aimed for youths with disabilities. Since its first run in 2011, the tournament has attracted more than 4,000 participants in the IT field.

In the same vein, CEO Cho also expressed LG’s dedication to improve its accessibility for disabled and senior users. Based on insights from the LG Disabled Advisory Group founded in 2021, LG introduced disability-friendly products to the markets such as household electronics that incorporate audio and custom tags with braille stickers for the visually impaired.

To close the conference, CEO Cho announced four finalists for the Life’s Good Award, a competition that promote LG’s “Life’s Good” vision and empowers innovators to create a positive impact on the world. They are Day1Lab, Dot Inc., NONA Desalination and SOLUTUMS. All four will be granted US$ 1.05 million to help their product launches.
