espresso Indonesia recently launched its new machine series, the Vertuo, with a special exhibition in Senayan City, Jakarta. The event, which opened on Wednesday, will run until Feb. 26 for the public to celebrate and try out the new coffee brewing system in Indonesia.
The Nespresso stand in the center of the mall’s atrium was designed in the style of the famous coffee capsule, complete with special installations and activities inspired by the bar system and Nespresso's commitment to sustainable coffee production. At the center of it all are the new innovations themselves; the three designs of Vertuo systems available in Indonesia, with the Vertuo Next, Vertuo Next Premium and Vertuo Next Premium Deluxe for everyone to see.
To mark the special occasion visitors are treated to exclusive recipes for coffee cocktails and coffee mocktails served by Nespresso during the event in collaboration with Monin, a leading syrup and beverage company.
With the new Centrifusion™ technology of the Vertuo system and a new line of coffee capsules of various sizes, the exhibit aims to show Nespresso’s ability to provide different styles of coffee, from espresso to carafe. it currently offers 20 coffee capsule variations in five sizes. The capsules are now labeled by barcodes on its outer ring so the intelligent system can automatically recognize the type of coffee being brewed and adjust the extraction parameters.
"We are very pleased to be able to introduce the Vertuo bar system to Indonesian coffee lovers through a special exhibition at Senayan City. Existing customers and bars can explore and discover new Nespresso flavors in a variety of sizes that can be tailored to their individual preferences. The combination of technology, expertise and sustainability within Vertuo can be conveyed to our customers at this event," Mark Senior, vice president of Kanmo Group, the official distributor of Nespresso Indonesia.
The launch came to Indonesia after a successful run in North America, Europe and a number of other Asian countries. It is aimed to broaden the brand’s consumer base, as most consumers in Indonesia prefer large coffees, often starting the day with a cup of coffee larger than 200ml. Mark did assure customers that the older system is also able to make lattes, however the new innovation requires less effort.
The event also showcases Nespresso’s commitment to sustainability, which is at the heart of the brand itself. In line with this approach, all Nespresso coffee capsules, including the Vertuo range, are made of aluminum, a material that is infinitely recyclable, which carefully protects the freshness, quality and taste of the coffee.
The event also gave Nespresso the opportunity to once again remind consumers how easy it is to recycle the capsules by sending them back to any Nespresso outlets in a Nespresso recycling bag.
“We’re very pleased that a lot of customers do recycle, even to the point that sometimes if they live in a small city, they send us the capsules, which is amazing. You can recycle it in any of our stores, drop the bag off, or you can actually call us and we pay for a courier to come and collect for you and bring back to our warehouse,” Mark said.
“And then what happens is all the capsules are taken to the warehouse and they shred them. The coffee, it’s an amazing story, we deliver it to one of our coffee farmers in Bandung and they use it for fertilizer to grow the next generation of coffee beans. And the aluminum is just melted down to be used for pens, or a car, or anything. So as long as you recycle a Nespresso, there’s zero waste and that’s something we’re really excited about,” he added.
On one side of the atrium, there were two bins, one labeled “used capsules.” It is revealed that the recycled capsules were turned into pencils or utensils, such as chopsticks, some of which were given to members of the media.
