he Hotel Grand Sahid Jaya, Jakarta began welcoming guests to the Solo Brasserie & Lounge, the newest culinary destination for people who come to Jakarta, on Wednesday. With its strategic location on Jl. Jenderal Sudirman, the hotel provides a strong touch of Indonesian culture to add aesthetic value to every corner, making it a popular destination since it opened its doors in 1974.
One example of Indonesian culture and history incorporated in its interior design are the paintings derived from stories such as Parikesit and Pandawa Lima that adorn the walls of the hotel. Complemented by gebyok, carvings and peacock sculptures made by Indonesian artists, Hotel Grand Sahid Jaya, Jakarta gives a platform for local artists to present their work to worldwide visitors.
"In 2023, we have carried out various renovations in the Ballroom, Meeting Room [and] Restaurant Bengawan Solo area, which have now been transformed into a semi-gallery, where visitors can view paintings by continuing the story of the Parikesit puppet story while enjoying authentic Indonesian food, and finally, Solo Brasserie Lounge, which has transformed into a new place with Asian fusion and international specialties, is equipped with a bar and lounge which can be enjoyed comfortably to relax with colleagues, relatives and family. All of our restaurants have different nuances and flavors of food so that visitors can choose according to their individual tastes and of course come back to our restaurant again,” said Venny Artha, general manager of the hotel.
Venny credited the hotel’s success to the various changes made to adapt to modern trends combined with Indonesian traditional culture, among other things. From these efforts, the enthusiasm of visitors continues to increase, judging by the number of visitors from last year to the present, increasing over 30 percent.
The newly opened Solo Brasserie & Lounge is expected to add to the increasing hype of the hotel. The brasserie is a lifestyle restaurant concept that follows the latest trends without eliminating elements of traditional Indonesian culture, becoming the meeting point between innovation, tradition and authenticity.
"Solo Brasserie & Lounge has now been transformed according to current needs and trends, where we accommodate various private events and as a gathering place for the capital city and Greater Jakarta community, equipped with a wide selection of international dishes and a very wide selection of cocktails. We are sure that visitors will really like this place, because Solo Brasserie & Lounge can be a culinary and hang-out place that is different from other places,” added Billy Wanget, F&B manager of the Grand Sahid Jaya Hotel, Jakarta.
"At the Solo Brasserie & Lounge, we provide a menu of 75 new dishes with special taste images to be enjoyed, starting with the starter menu, main course, easy bite to dessert. I took inspiration for the new menu based on a lifestyle concept that was adapted to the concept of Solo Brasserie & Lounge itself. Without eliminating the characteristics of Indonesian cuisine, I developed the menu into a menu of 30 percent Asian Fusion dishes and 70 percent international dishes, which will be the mainstay menu at Solo Brasserie & Lounge," explained Chef Rofic Maulana, executive chef for the Hotel Grand Sahid Jaya, Jakarta.
The price of the food has also been adjusted to ensure that it is affordable, ranging from Rp 75,000 to Rp 350,000. Moreover, Solo Brasserie & Lounge works with several banks that offer attractive promotional deals, from 15 to 30 percent, by making various payments via cash, debit cards and credit cards.
To add to the aesthetic, visitors to Solo Brasserie & Lounge will also be spoiled with music that brings us back in time, along with Live Music Band collaboration performances with DJs from Wednesday to Saturday. However, not one to stray away from tradition, the genre of music will still elevate the concept of Indonesian traditional music in accordance with the concept of Hotel Grand Sahid Jaya, Jakarta.
"We hope that with the presence of Solo Brasserie & Lounge, Hotel Grand Sahid Jaya, Jakarta will become a culinary destination and a fun gathering place for the people of Indonesia and Jakarta, especially for foreign tourists and be able to increase Indonesian hospitality tourism. We are committed to being able to exceed our guests' expectations to continue to provide extraordinary culinary experiences at our hotel, while at the same time being able to enjoy the various other facilities offered, "concluded Venny.
