he government plans to disburse Rp 130 trillion (US$7.98 billion) from banks under state asset fund Danantara through the micro credit program (KUR) to support the “3 million homes” program of President Prabowo Subianto’s administration.
Public Housing and Settlements Minister Maruarar “Ara” Sirait said the ministry was discussing technical details of the disbursement with Danantara, the Public Housing Savings Management Board (BP Tapera) and state-owned banks.
“The five state-owned banks [involved include] BRI for the housing micro credit program,” Ara said on Tuesday, as quoted by news agency Antara.
He added that the microloan scheme was in line with the President’s directive, underlining that the housing sector contributed to GDP growth.
“Economic growth relies heavily on the housing sector, because there are around 180 [related] industries from cement to sand, glass, lighting and more,” he said.
Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani is in talks with state-owned banks including Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) about the microloan scheme for the public housing program.
“By the end of this year, we have calculated that, more or less, [microloan disbursements] could reach Rp 130 trillion and of course, we have finalized the scheme and it’s ready to be implemented,” Rosan said on Tuesday.
