he Apurva Kempinski Bali paid a tribute to Java’s Majapahit culture and civilization on Oct. 28 with "Majapahit Imperial Dining", a culinary journey created in partnership with social enterprise Javara Indonesia.
Inspired by the centuries-old Javanese wisdom of Mitreka Satata, Majapahit Imperial Dining focuses on the connection between humanity and nature while preserving Indonesia's diverse culinary heritage. It celebrates the feasts held during the Majapahit Empire from the 13th to 16th centuries, which was known for its exquisite food presentation.
The menu showcases dishes like Urap Hayuyu featuring unconventional grains, Rawon Lembu, a dark broth infused with kluwek (pangium seeds), Botok Iwak that uses all parts of a coconut, Manuk Urang Manggar with a zesty twist, and Betawi-inspired Jadah Tape.
Central to this dining experience is the exclusive Melik Parijatha Rice, once reserved only for the Majapahit royal table.
Meanwhile, a dance performance recounting the story of Tribhuwana Tunggadewi, the Majapahit Queen, will transport guests to that long-ago yet innovative and transformative era.
Sustainability is core to The Apurva Kempinski Bali, which sources its ingredients from organic farms and skilled fishers. Its ongoing collaboration with Javara Indonesia is an active part of this philosophy.
