he Jakarta based social start-up Campaign #ForABetterWorld is facilitating the advancement of education in Indonesia through an app that promotes an innovative social campaign called #BantuSekolahYuk.
Successfully raising community donations which totaled to Rp 100 million (US$6,192) in the first quarter of 2023, the collected funds are now being used to renovate three early childhood education centers (PAUD) in Jakarta and to provide training for 40 teachers.
The three PAUDs that were renovated—KB Ibnu Sabil, PAUD Matahari RW 08 and PAUD Melati Indah Kapuk—were selected through a vetting process which ensured that the aid reached the schools most in need.
Intan Siagian, Project Lead for #BantuSekolahYuk, explained that the renovations had a significant impact not only on the students but also on public awareness regarding the importance of education.
“These three PAUDs demonstrated exceptional dedication in engaging the community through challenges on the Campaign #ForABetterWorld app. Through our selection process, we ensured that the aid provided would have maximum impact,” Intan said.
Additionally, this initiative is a collaboration with the ReachOut Foundation, a civil society organization that focuses on improving the quality of education in Indonesia.
Following the success of this collaboration, the ReachOut Foundation has committed to continuing the program through a successor campaign, #BantuSekolahYuk 2.0.
“We are thrilled to see the schools benefiting from this program. For instance, leaky roofs have been repaired, creating a more comfortable learning environment. Given these outstanding results, we are optimistic about continuing the program with a campaign in 2025,” said Tulus Siahaan, operations director of the ReachOut Foundation.
The program involves PAUD teachers as campaign drivers, having them compete to create educational initiatives through the Campaign #ForABetterWorld app, which is then supported by the wider community.
The ten PAUDs that garner the most community support will receive further school renovation assistance.
This campaign aims to help over 4,500 PAUD students gain access to better quality education and to train 60 teachers, enhancing their creativity in developing engaging and enjoyable learning experiences.
