ceanX's Alucia, the exploration vessel featured in Blue Planet II, a BBC-produced nature documentary series on marine life, has now been listed on Airbnb, opening an opportunity for the public to forge their own deep sea exploration.
Airbnb, along with BBC Worldwide, launched a competition in a bid to inspire the public about ocean exploration and conservation, where three chosen winners would have the chance to experience a journey up to 1,000 meters beneath the waves of The Bahamas.
With the journey being hosted by Orla Doherty, the show's producer, guests are set to hear untold stories of aquatic adventures, learn little-known facts and surprising accounts of marine life, according to a statement.
"Having spent 500 hours in the submarine and countless weeks at sea filming the deep blue sea for Blue Planet II, the Alucia almost feels like my second home. I now feel privileged to be able to share this once-in-a-lifetime experience with promising ocean heroes and show them the wonders of life in the ocean," Dohery said in a statement.

The competition is only open to a number of countries, namely the United States, Canada, China, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Germany, Philippines, Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom.
The three chosen entries will enjoy a trip to Nassau, The Bahamas, from April 4 to 8, with two of those nights spent aboard the Alucia to explore Cape Eleuthera. It is also worth noting that each winner can take one guest with them.
Those wishing to enter the contest should visit the Blue Planet listing page on Airbnb: airbnb.com/blueplanet.
Hopefuls are required to answer the following question: Tell us about your ideal deep sea adventure — what do you dream of exploring beneath the waves?
The competition is open until Feb. 10. (liz/kes)
