ince its introduction in November last year, Airbnb Experiences in Bali has climbed to the second most booked "Experiences" in Asia, surpassed only by Tokyo.

The Experiences program, released by community-driven hospitality company Airbnb, allows travelers to participate in curated activities led by local hosts, enabling them live like the locals do.

Among the most popular Experiences in Bali are Biking through Bali’s Hidden Beauty in Gianyar, The Surf Champion in Badung, Organic Farm Cooking Class in Ubud, Meditate with a Shaman and White Water Rafting Adventure in Bali.

The program also provides other activities, such as Cultural Vespa Biking and Hiking in Lovina, Surf Guru in Canggu, Eco-Spiritual Journey at Sidemen and Rebuilding Bali’s Coral Reefs.

“Experiences is also a great way to unleash economic opportunity for locals,” Airbnb Asia Pacific trips director Parin Mehta said in a press release. “On the island, Airbnb has emerged as a platform for people to monetize their passions and talents. Our greatest assets are time and potential, and Experiences is a way to unlock that.”

The Airbnb Experiences program was launched in November 2016 and currently offers more than 3,100 Experiences in more than 40 markets.

In the Asia-Pacific, the company has seen a spike in guests trying out the program, with booking numbers growing more than 14 times each week in January. (wir/kes)
