Indonesia, Brunei are one family, Prabowo says in visit

resident Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed Indonesia’s close relationship and commitment for regional cooperation and economic ties with Brunei Darussalam, calling both countries are not just neighbors, but also part of a family, during his day trip to the Muslim country.

Prabowo arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan for his first state visit to the country as Indonesian president on Wednesday morning, where he was welcomed by Crown Prince of Brunei Al-Muhtadee Billah and several other senior Bruneian officials. The entourage then proceeded to the Nurul Iman State Palace to meet with Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah.

The President was warmly received at the palace, greeted with a ceremonial inspection of the Royal Guard and a 21-gun salute. 

Following the ceremony, Prabowo went on a closed-door meeting with Sultan Bolkiah, joined by their respective officials. The Indonesian delegation included Coordinating Economic Minister Airlangga Hartarto, Foreign Minister Sugiono and Migrant Workers Protection Minister Abdul Kadir Karding.

According to official statements, the two leaders discussed various regional and ASEAN issues during the meeting, including support for closer regional integration and a unified approach to pressing challenges of economic volatility and maritime security.
