tate-owned bus operator Perum Damri says it may launch a nationwide travel pass in 2026, allowing passengers to travel across multiple provinces on a single ticket.

The travel pass is inspired by the Eurail Global Pass that allows travel across 33 countries by train within the European region.

Damri president director Setia N. Milatia Moemin said the system was still being developed.

“We are working on creating a travel pass so that people can travel from the tip of Sumatra to the far east [of Indonesia],” Setia said in Jakarta on Tuesday, as quoted by Antara news agency.

“We’re aiming for something like the Eurail Pass, something along those lines.”

Currently, the specific routes were still under review, Setia said.

She added that if a full Sabang-to-Merauke route was not feasible, the pass would cover routes connecting Sabang to islands accessible via ferry crossings.

“We are still refining the plan. Hopefully, by next year’s Idul Fitri, it will be available, allowing people to travel from the northern tip of Sumatra, at least to areas connected by ferry routes,” Setia said.

Setia said the cross-border route to Kuching in Sarawak, Malaysia, was still the favorite one for Damri customers.

Meanwhile, cities in Central Java, Yogyakarta, Malang and Surabaya in East Java and Bali were the favorite domestic destinations, especially since Damri offers interisland interconnected routes.

Other than cross-border bus and intercity bus services, Damri also operates city bus and airport bus services.

Meanwhile, Damri is offering a 10 percent discount on all routes ahead of the 2025 Idul Fitri holiday season.

Setia said this discount was exclusively available for purchases made through the Damri app.

The discount will apply during the peak exodus period from March 17 to 20. However, regular fares will be in effect on Idul Fitri itself from March 30 to April 1. The discount will resume during the return period of April 4-5.

“We are implementing flexible fares, but we’re doing our best to avoid significant price hikes, except during peak travel days,” Setia said.

“The 10 percent discount is part of this effort.”
