T

he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has dropped a plan to summon President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo's son-in-law Bobby Nasution, who is also the mayor of Medan, North Sumatra, over claims that he accepted a flight on a private jet provided by a businessman.

A KPK spokesperson said on Monday said that the anti-graft body was no longer treating the allegation of Bobby flying on the private jet as an illegal gratuity case, having downgraded it to a public complaint.

"The handling of the allegation that BN [Bobby Nasution] accepted a gratuity is no longer with the directorate of gratuities but with the directorate for public complaints," KPK spokesperson Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto said, as quoted by kompas.com on Monday.

Tessa added that to be able to summon Bobby for an explanation, KPK investigators would have to launch an official probe into the allegation.

The allegation that Bobby and his wife Kahiyang Ayu might have accepted an illegal gratuity from the unnamed businessman emerged after a post on social media platform X purported to show the couple preparing to disembark from a private jet at Suwondo Air Base in Medan, North Sumatra.

Bobby said there was nothing irregular about his trip on the private jet, considering that no funding from the state budget had been used in the travel arrangement.
