andung Institute of Technology (ITB) and Prasetiya Mulya University have agreed to collaborate in developing STEM programs and bolstering research on semiconductors amid the rise of digital technology industries globally.

In an event at the ITB campus in Bandung, West Java, on Thursday, ITB rector Tatacipta Dirgantara and Prasetiya Mulya rector Hassan Wirajuda signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that is expected to encourage STEM learning, including in AI, robotics and semiconductors.

ITB rector Tatacipta said the new partnership is expected to support the development of semiconductor and AI industries in Indonesia.

“Universities are the driving force behind efforts to build synergy with industries,” he said.

The new initiative follows a previous collaboration between the Bandung-based state university and the private university in supporting the Indonesia Chip Design Collaborative Center (ICDEC), a non-profit organization that aims at developing human resources and technology in semiconductor chip design.

The MoU also paves the way for the two universities to integrate their undergraduate and graduate programs and collaborations in various learning subjects like renewable energy and food technologies in the next five years.
