s it charges ahead in its battle with Snapchat, Instagram continues to roll out updates, and this time it’s upgrading its direct messaging feature.
Now, Direct supports external web links and will allow users to send either landscape or portrait videos or pictures without having to crop them.
The links feature will also include previews for websites of the URL shared, similar to Facebook Messenger’s format.

“Since introducing the new Instagram Direct in April, we’ve been excited to give people more ways to have fun, visual conversations. We’ll continue to make improvements to Instagram Direct throughout the year,” said the company in a blog post.
For the 375 million monthly active users on Direct, the updates continue to make Instagram a more viable chat option.
According to TechCrunch, the update is now available for iOS users and will be rolling out to Android phones soon. (sul/kes)
