E-commerce platforms JD.ID and Bukalapak were included on the list of YouTube's 10 most popular ads in 2017.

JD.ID’s video ad, titled #DijaminOri (#Originality Guaranteed), was crowned the most-watched video as it had more than 39 million views. The one-minute video features how some people are committed to keeping their promises to their parents, spouse and even a stranger on a bus. First released in September last year, the ad has been liked by more than 11,000 users.

Meanwhile, Bukalapak's ad, which had a Chinese New Year theme, has been viewed over 14 million times and liked by more than 42,000 users. Titled Nego Cincai Bukalapak, it was first uploaded in January last year.

Other ads on the list are videos from e-commerce platform Shopee, consumer goods company Unilever and telecommunications service provider Smartfren.

The Google-owned video sharing website also announced 10 local channels that received a Gold Button award, a recognition for channels that reached over 1 million subscribers in the first quarter of 2018. Among the channel creators were Arief Muhammad, also known as Poconggg, whose channel revolves around his daily life and traveling experiences; Deddy Corbuzier, who attracted YouTube users with his opinions, motivational quotes and review videos; and Jess No Limit, whose channel is mainly about video games.

“We have seen a growth in the number of creators in Indonesia. Indonesians don’t only watch international content on YouTube they’re also proud of local creators who are able to interact with them in a relatable language,” said Veronica Utami, Google Indonesia’s head of marketing, in a press release. “And marketers realize this and they use local talents to convey their message to the public."
