According to kompas.com, the dish was launched in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan.

Sutji added that this year the fast food chain had launched several local flavors.
In addition to ayam kremes sambal matah, McDonald’s Indonesia also launched kedondong fizz, a carbonated drink made of kedondong (hog plum) juice.
The fried chicken set is available in two packages, with or without egg. Priced at Rp 31,818 (US$2.30) and Rp 37,737, respectively, the package includes rice, kedondong fizz and a choice of crispy or spicy fried chicken.
