Five die from diarrhea, emergency declared

UPANG: Alor regency administration in East Nusa Tenggara declared Tuesday an emergency situation after five residents died of diarrhea in West Kalondama village in the past four days.

Alor Health Agency head Yulius Plaikol said his agency had sent a team to the village to prevent the disease from spreading to neighboring villages.

"At least 17 residents suffered diarrhea, five of whom died."
