AKARTA: Parents of the baby who was kidnapped by a part-time midwife, Suryani Indah Sari, say they forgive the perpetrator but demand justice be upheld.
"My client said she forgave Suryani but demanded punishment for the perpetrator," Friska J.M. Gultom, crime division deputy director at the Mawar Saron Legal Aid told The Jakarta Post.
Friska said she suggested the parents forgave the perpetrator because it would be a used as a consideration to ease the verdict.
Suryani is charged with violating the law on child protection that carries a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
