ENPASAR: The second Serangan Island Green Festival starts this Thursday and features an array of activities, including traditional cuisine, handicraft exhibit, art performances, seminars, an environmental exhibit and a tree-planting drive.
“The festival is aimed at revitalizing the island as a site of both cultural and natural diversity,” Denpasar administration spokesman Edwin Suryadharma said Saturday.
The three-day festival is partially funded by the city, and highlights a tourism project involving massive land reclamation that has transformed the once tiny Serangan Island into a terrifying example of environmental degradation.
“The festival will showcase the hard work of the Serangan people in rehabilitating their environment,” Edwin said. — JP
