Y

our comments on the Jakarta city administration’s plan to turn the Lebak Bulus soccer stadium in South Jakarta into a depot for the planned Mass Rapid Transit (MRT):

I absolutely agree as long as it is well planned and helps our future transportation system.
This doesn’t have to mean that a stadium in Jakarta disappears, there should be a new stadium built that is better than the demolished one.

I agree. Of course the administration, with all their means and experts, have considered all the aspects for the sake of the people.

I think most Jakartans do agree with the plan of converting Lebak Bulus stadium into an MRT station because an MRT is an efficient transportation system that can reduce aggravating road congestion and allow people to spend less time getting places, especially for commuters and students.

But, as in other foreign countries, it should be well planned, well built and well organized so that it is more convenient and more comfortable to go by MRT rather than other means of transportation.

The Lebak Bulus stadium is a historic venue, not only for the Jakarta soccer team but for the Indonesian national team.

And if the Jakarta administration changes it into an MRT station, where will people play soccer? It is better if they find another location for the MRT station.

Of course I disagree because if the government converts the Lebak Bulus soccer stadium into an MRT facility green areas will decrease and our kids will have no place to play soccer.

To move the Lebak Bulus stadium to another area in South Jakarta is all right because the current area is crowded with traffic, making it less accessible.

The replacement should be more spacious, in the right environment, accessible from many directions and built with all necessary up-to-date facilities.

An important factor is the immediate availability of the new soccer stadium.

The MRT station is where it needs it to be for the public’s needs. We can build a better soccer stadium somewhere else where it won’t create daily traffic.
