Comments: NATO attack allegedly kills 24 Pakistani troops

O

ct. 27, Online

Pakistan has blocked vital supply routes for US-led troops in Afghanistan and has demanded that Washington vacate a base used by American drones, after coalition aircraft allegedly killed 24 Pakistani troops at two posts along a mountainous frontier that allegedly has served as a safe haven for militants.

The incident Saturday was a major blow to American efforts to rebuild an already tattered alliance, which is vital to winding down the 10-year-old Afghan war. Islamabad called the bloodshed in one of its tribal areas a “grave infringement” of the country’s sovereignty and the violence could make it even more difficult for the US to enlist Pakistan’s help in pushing Afghan insurgents to engage in peace talks.

Your comments:

The words “allegedly killed” speak volumes of the hypocrisy that is the hallmark of western media. Even when the ISAF and the NATO officials have admitted committing the helicopter ambush, the story still uses “allegedly” so as to leave some space to cover things up.

This was a brazen attack, a show of frustration by the US and its allies over their failure to gain anything tangible in Afghanistan, which has now become another Vietnam for the US and a real graveyard for the Yankees.

To add insult to injury, someone had the guts to say the NATO attack was provoked. Yeah, provoked, as was the case with Raymond Davis — the gun toting cowboy who made his escape after putting to sleep three people in broad day light.

S Latif

The people in Pakistan have paid a very high price since their first friendship with the United States in 1954. So we repeat: The US is not a reliable partner.

Now the families of the 28 deceased soldiers are without fathers and husbands. Some 20 frontier soldiers were also severely injured. The failed West — look at their economies — is looking for new victims.
