oint search and rescue personnel are still engaged in operations to find the remaining eight missing persons after a rockslide at a limestone quarry in Cirebon, West Java, on Friday. Authorities have so far confirmed at least six survivors and 17 dead as a result of the incident.

On Saturday afternoon, rescuers recovered three dead individuals from under the rock, bringing the casualty tally to 17. Their remains were taken to the Arjawinangun Regional General Hospital (RSUD) in Cirebon regency.

As of Saturday, the West Java Police had identified 14 victims at Arjawinangun Hospital. Meanwhile, the injured victims were treated at other nearby hospitals.

“The recovered bodies have been handed over to their respective families by West Java Police chief Insp. Gen. Rudi Setiawan today,” West Java Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Hendra Rochmawan told The Jakarta Post on Saturday.

The search operation on Saturday was focused on two worksites using at least six excavators and two wheel loaders to look for victims and clear away landslide debris, according to Bandung search and rescue office head Ade Dian Permana in a statement on Saturday.

The operation was suspended at 5:30 p.m. and will be resumed on Sunday.
