Deputy home minister announces that 50 regional heads will join the second leadership retreat at IPDN Jatinangor next month, focusing on critical government programs.
irst Deputy Home Minister Bima Arya Sugiarto has said that around 50 regional heads elected in the 2024 regional head elections will take part in the second regional leaders’ retreat in June 2025 at the Institute of Public Administration (IPDN) in Jatinangor, Sumedang regency, West Java.
“God willing, the second retreat will be attended by regional heads who did not participate in the retreat in Magelang or who won a revote and have since been inaugurated by the Home Ministry,” Bima said in Padang, West Sumatra, on Thursday, as quoted by metrotvnews.com.
Bima said the regional heads who will participate in the retreat were regents or mayors who have been installed by the Home Ministry.
“For example, tomorrow [Saturday] the West Sumatra governor will inaugurate the Pasaman regent, meaning that he will attend the retreat,” he said on Friday, as quoted by detik.com.
Bima said that the retreat concept had been finalized and was currently awaiting approval from President Prabowo Subianto, the State Secretariat and the Home Ministry.
The format of the second regional heads retreat will be adjusted based on the number of participants, as fewer regional heads are expected to join compared with the first retreat.
Previously, the first regional heads’ retreat was held at the Military Academy in Magelang, Central Java, in February.
Around 500 regional heads who were inaugurated a few days earlier by Prabowo attended the event.
Based on the first wave, elected regional heads will take part in a week-long program aimed at enhancing their leadership skills.
Participants followed a packed daily schedule from morning until night at the first retreat. Their day began with morning exercises and a flag-raising ceremony, followed by a series of training sessions.
The training covered topics such as budget efficiency, core duties and responsibilities and strengthening their national outlook. The sessions were delivered directly by the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas).
