ENPASAR: PT Karangasem Sejahtera (KS) and PT Pelindo III are entitled to jointly operate the Tanah Ampo Port in Karangasem regency, after the recent issuance of a license from the Transportation Ministry.

The Tanah Ampo Port is usually used to harbor yachts. Other ports that also serve the same function are Benoa Port (Denpasar), Padang Bai (Karangasem) and Buleleng Port.

“The license issuance is good news to boost cruise tourism to Bali. Hopefully, they can operate the port optimally,” said Bali Tourism Agency head Ida Bagus Kade Subhiksu.

Last year, the number of tourists coming to Bali via sea ports had increased 11.34 percent, from 28,154 people in 2010 to 31,346 people.
