Flora, fauna expo to open on Friday

AKARTA: The city administration will hold the annual exhibition of Jakarta’s flora and fauna from Friday to July 16, one of many events planned to commemorate the city’s 485th anniversary.

The Flona Jakarta 2012 exhibition will feature 216 individual and 13 institutional participants, who will display a range of agricultural, gardening and farming products.

The organizing committee will also arrange various competitions, including sports, agricultural, painting and animal beauty contests.

Governor Fauzi Bowo will open the exhibition, which will be held daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Lapangan Banteng in Central Jakarta.
