ust two weeks after he was incarcerated in Guntur military prison as a graft suspect, Insp. Gen. Djoko Susilo has skipped questioning with the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) due to illness.
Djoko’s lawyer, Juniver Girsang, has confirmed that Djoko failed to meet with KPK investigators, saying that his client needed to rest.
“He [Djoko] is unwell. He needs to rest,” Juniver said here as quoted by Antara news agency on Wednesday.
Investigators had been scheduled to question the two-star police general in their probe of graft in the procurement of driving simulators at the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) under his leadership.
Juniver said that Djoko would need up to a week to rest, demanding that the KPK investigators reschedule their questioning. “We will tell the KPK as soon as Pak Djoko is recovered,” he said.
The KPK and the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) previously struck a deal to crack down on the abuse of complaints of illness by suspects and defendants to beat court dates and detention.
