I

refer to a view point article titled “Gender shock, sexism, misogyny and prostitution,” (Sunday Post, Feb. 3).

The writer presents interesting viewpoints but I think the question relating to offspring asked by Indonesians stems from cultural inclination rather than rudeness.

Most Indonesian women are culturally inclined to have offspring and they like to find similarities by asking such a question, not to offend but to make friendly conversation. I don’t think most of them are aware that such a question can be viewed as rude in another culture or society. It’s the same naïve question as “when are you getting married” for people who choose to be single.
