President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) has signed a regulation on the production of Low Cost Green Car (LCGC), a minister says.
"Everything has been regulated and signed by the President on May 23," Industrial Minister MS Hidayat said as quoted by kontan.co.id on Wednesday.
The regulation regulates low carbon emissions for several types of car, such as electrical cars, hybrids, biofuel-based cars and compressed natural gas (CNG) cars.
"With this low carbon emission (LCE), we can expect a trend for green cars, which will reduce the consumption of fuel," Hidayat said.
Hidayat said that with the issuance of the regulation, car manufacturers could start mass producing LCGC and market them immediately.
