T Asuransi Allianz Life Indonesia, in cooperation with the Green Initiative Foundation (GIF), recently conducted a financial management training program for farmers living in the Sarongge village in Mt. Gede Pangrango National Park, Cianjur, West Java.
The program, carried out from Jan. 11 to Jan. 12 of this year, was aimed at enhancing the financial management skills of local farmers, which will help them avoid possible bad credit.
'Debt payment plans often force them to exploit and damage local protected forests in their efforts to collect money to pay their debts,' said Allianz CSR head Indra Yuliawan.
'The farmers were informed about financial planning, bookkeeping and money-saving,' he said.
The farmers are expected to learn how to manage their money properly so that they will be able to maximize their production capacity without destroying the ecosystem, he said.
