The Central Sulawesi Police arrested two suspected terrorists on Monday evening after a shootout in Kilo village, Poso regency.
"We believe they are terrorists we have been looking for," Poso Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Susnadi said on Tuesday as quoted by Antara news agency.
Both suspected terrorists, identified as A and R, are local villagers. They were being detained at the Poso Police office for questioning, Susnadi said.
Susnadi was confident the two were part of the Santoso terrorism network because when they were arrested, the officers confiscated from them a revolver with 43 bullets of Caliber .38 and a homemade bomb.
Police are continuing to search for other suspected terrorists in forests and plantations around Kilo village.
Meanwhile, two Central Sulawesi Mobile Brigade (Brimob) police officers were injured during the shootout on Monday. They are being treated at Poso general hospital.(krb)
