Two Chinese, one Indonesian dead in Bali boat sinking

Two Chinese nationals have died and a Balinese man is missing after the Dolphin II ran aground, capsized and sank on Tuesday as it was entering Sanur Port after sailing from Nusa Penida.

wo foreign visitors and an Indonesian crew were killed after the Dolphin II fast boat ran aground, capsized and then sank on Tuesday in the channel entering Sanur Port in Denpasar, Bali, after setting out from Nusa Penida.

The two visitors were identified as Chinese nationals Shi Guo Hong, 20, and Hanqing Yu, 37, both male. Meanwhile, the Indonesian crew who died in the accident was identified as Kadek Adi, 23, from Bali.

Meanwhile, 15 other people are being treated at Bali Mandara Regional General Hospital for injuries suffered during the incident.

At the time of the incident, the Dolphin II was carrying five crew members and 75 passengers, comprising 73 foreigners including those from Australia, China and the United States, as well as two Indonesian passengers.

According to information provided by the Denpasar office of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the incident occurred at around 3 p.m. Bali time, or 2 p.m. Western Indonesia Time (WIB).

“We received the initial report from the Bali Provincial Disaster Management Operations Center at 4:25 p.m.,” said I Nyoman Sidakarya, head of Basarnas Denpasar.

The office dispatched five personnel to the scene of the incident, while three personnel from the sea rescue unit (SRU) deployed on a rigid inflatable boat. The team was also equipped with a thermal drone for a potential aerial search, as the boat had sunk not too far from shore.
