S

candinavian software company Opera launched its latest product in Indonesia, Opera Coast, a web browser for Apple iOS devices, on Wednesday.

With tidy full-screen surfing experience, Coast is claimed to have a different interface to other common browsers.

Coast is also said to only need a thumb to operate the application and button usage is minimalized because it has intuitive gesture controls.

'€œWe are sorry, if Opera Coast does not look like any other common browsers, because we are trying to create something different,'€ Wuri Rostandy, key account manager of Opera Software ASA, said.

However, this new product is consuming more bandwidth than Opera Mini, the previous Opera product, as there is no file compression feature in this application.

While not revealing recent market share data in Indonesia or worldwide, Agnes Agastia, Opera software communications manager, claimed that Coast has reached the top five browser applications on Apple Store in United States and Russia.

'€œWe also try to engage Indonesian consumers by asking an opinion from Indonesian influencers, because Indonesia is one of our important markets. Indonesia is the second country with the largest users of the Opera Mini,'€ added Wuri.

Meanwhile, Opera Coast availability for Android platform cannot be confirmed yet. '€œFor now, we want to focus on developing and upgrading Coast for iOS,'€ said Agnes. (yln)
