N

o Indonesians are reported to have died in a nightclub shooting in Orlando, Florida, the US, on Sunday, which claimed at least 50 lives and injured more than 50 others, the Foreign Ministry has stated.

The ministry’s director for the protection of Indonesian nationals and entities abroad, Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, said the Indonesian consulate in Houston was continuing to collect information, “but so far there are no reports that Indonesians fell victim”.

“The consulate will continue to monitor the development and coordinate with local authorities as well as the network of Indonesians [in the area],” Lalu said on Sunday as quoted by tempo.co.

At least 50 people died early Sunday when a gunman opened fire inside a crowded gay nightclub in the city. It was the deadliest mass shooting in American history. (iik)
