2-year-old toddler died of head injuries after being slammed to the floor by his uncle, Sentot Yuniarto, 30, who allegedly attempted to sodomize him for a second time in Kediri, East Java. The young boy, known only by his initials AM, is the third son of Adi Triwahono and Ita, residents of Burengan, Pesantren, Kediri.
“I want him [Sentot] sentenced with the death penalty,” Adi said as quoted by tempo.co on Wednesday.
Kediri Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Wibowo said the suspect had admitted to his crime. To investigators, Sentot said he had sodomized AM in May and attempted to repeat the act on Monday. Irked by the victim’s struggle, Setot slammed AM to the floor twice. “The victim died due to severe head trauma,” Wibowo said.
Police are delving further into the case to uncover any possibility that Sentot might have preyed on other boys. Besides AM, the suspect reportedly often took AM’s older brothers, aged 6 and 4, to play with him while working as an electronics store attendant.
According to the law on child protection, Setot may face a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison. (dmr)
