T

he commuter train in Jakarta will run its normal operation during the Idul Fitri holiday to help shuttle revellers who plan to spend their holiday in the Indonesian capital city, the operator, PT KAI Commuter Jakarta (KCJ) announced on Monday.

Although more than one third of Jakarta's population have left town to join the Idul Fitri exodus to rural areas, many of those who stay or come to Jakarta for the holiday would need transportation to the city's favorite hotspots, such as the Jakarta Kota, Bogor and the Ancol theme park.

"We will operate the same number of trips,"  KCJ spokeswoman Eva Chairunisa said.

KCJ is operating a bus shuttle service between its Ancol train station and the Taman Impian Jaya Ancol, for the holiday between July 6 and 10.

KCJ normally runs 898 daily trips from its 75 trains. On normal days, it carries more than 885,000 passengers. (jun)
